A series of online training modules is now available to help those who work with children to understand the impact of traumatic stress on children’s lives and learn evidence-based interventions to better serve them.
The four modules assist practitioners in understanding the impact of traumatic stress, how traumatic stress can influence behaviors, and how professionals can foster resilience.
The series is led by Saprina Matheny, MSW, LICSW, Clinical Program Manager at the Ambit Network. Ambit, which is housed in the Institute for Translational Research in Children’s Mental Health (ITR), is a nationwide leader in helping communities use research-based prevention and intervention techniques to increase children’s ability to deal with trauma. We at ITR seek to advance quality research, train practitioners in evidence-based practices, and disseminate information to help bridge the gap between research and practice in our field.
The trainings were originally produced for those who work within child serving agencies in Central Minnesota thanks to a co-sponsorship from the Stearns County Family Services Collaborative, and are now freely available for any practitioners who wish to learn more about these trauma-informed practices.
