Tita Gives An Update On The Move

We are quickly approaching our upcoming move to Monitor Street, and I could not be more excited! We have been working very hard on the project and for what seems like a very long time.

As a bit of  history, we began talking about this project about two years ago… Following approval from the board, we put together an ad hoc committee of our closest donors, FCC friends and community influencers to help us locate just the right spot. Last August, we found that perfect building for us on Monitor Street. Between August and April when the renovations began, we invited leadership into the building to tour it and even had a Leadership Team meeting there. Additionally, we invited all staff in during the holiday season to tour the building, complete with the building’s first Christmas tree! Our architects conducted a number of meetings w/ the leadership inclusive of managers, supervisors and Directors so as to get their ideas, a wish list of their needs, and everything in between. The architectural renderings were shared with all. The renovations began in April and as I write this the most active phase of construction has just been completed. We have been unable to allow staff to walk through the building because it was an active construction site…BUT we have just identified dates for staff to be introduced into the building and your program spaces. Furniture is not all in yet but we are getting close! The dates for a walk thru are as follows:

  • Wednesday 8/21 between 9-11 am
  • Friday, 8/23 between 2-4pm
The walk thru will allow you to familiarize yourselves w/ the spaces and see the project close to completion. Any needs/wants you may have should be communicated to your Director and myself in writing.

The day of your move in, you will be greeted and given information that will help you navigate the new building.

I continue to ask for your patience as we embark on this journey. There is no question we may have overlooked items, but know that we did our best and any shortcomings will be rectified as we are able.
