Undergraduate Internships- Spring Semester 2023
 

Day Treatment- 1 opening
  • provide direct supervision with clients
  • assist in emotional regulation needs
  • assist in delivering mental health skills activities
  • learn daily documentation
  • participate in team meetings and collaboration

 

Child Advocacy Center- 1 FT opening,  2 to 3 PT openings
  • The Child Advocacy Centers Internship provides experience for undergraduate students at Family & Children’s Center’s two locations- Stepping Stones in La Crosse and Matty’s Place in Winona.
  • Interns will be observing forensic interviews and learning about the investigative process for child and vulnerable adult maltreatment cases.
  • Interns will also participate in advocacy services providing support and resources to children and families.

 

Independent Living- 1 opening

Independent Living Undergraduate Interns will gain experience in the following areas:

  • Direct client contact and casework including assisting clients filling out applications (ID’s, SS cards, housing, employment and other)
  • Attending appointments with clients, and transporting clients when needed
  • Supporting the Youth Advisory Council by coordinating meeting times, collaborating with potential speakers for YAC meetings, researching meeting topics and helping present topics at meetings

 

Safe visitation- 1 opening

The Safe Visitation/Taking Intern will:

  • Assist with direct supervision with clients
  • Assist with clerical supports
  • Gain training and understanding of procedures and policies
  • Learn daily documentation
  • Participate in team meetings and collaboration

 

 

Graduate Internships- Spring Semester 2023 (can extend into Fall 2023)

Outpatient, La Crosse- 3 openings
  • The counseling intern will gain practical work experience in the areas of individual counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, behavioral health, and addictions.
  • This intern position supports the promotion of individual growth in the clients of Family & Children’s Center through Assessment, Connection, and Accountability.
  • Student must be in a Master’s Degree program.
