If you’re not at home 24/7, then you’re occasionally leaving the house to go to work, run errands and get fresh air. These activities bring you within distance of people outside your household. Wearing face masks, constantly washing your hands, and social distancing are all great precautions when you are out and about!
Here are a few other precautions to put into routine:
- Avoid using public pens – everyone should carry their own pen with them at all times. All FCC staff own an employee ID lanyard, you can use this lanyard to carry around your own sanitized pen.
- Stop using your hands – any time you have to open a door, push a button or pull a lever for something, use a different body part. For example, when switching on a light or sink faucet, use your elbow or wrist. If you have to push a button or open a door, try covering your hands with gloves, a sleeve or a kleenex.
- Look for the automatic option – if the doors you’re entering aren’t already propped open or have automatic sensors, look around before you pull the handle.
- Watch where you put your phone – the less you can expose your phone in public, the less you need to worry. If you do put your phone down in public, be sure to disinfect your device right away.
- Stop handling cash – play it safe by setting the cash aside for now and relying more on electronic payments.
