Recently, I received a Speak Out from an anonymous staff person at FCC. The highlighted concern seemed to be the difficulty in being able to make timely referrals to the outpatient department. The individual identified the potential source of the issue being the introduction of a new referral form. Specifically, being unaware there was a new form that was supposed to be utilized. Here’s what I know… it is indeed my understanding that a new referral form was introduced to the Wisconsin outpatient department. This form is a form currently being utilized in the MN outpatient department. The form reportedly was being piloted and has not yet been formally introduced. The form’s purpose was to help to be able to better track referrals so we can be more efficient and timely. Whether or not the form was utilized should not have had a bearing on whether referrals to the outpatient department were occurring in a timely and efficient manner. I have spoken w/ the Clinical Director who will discuss with the outpatient departments the need to be responsive to referrals made. Additionally, we will ensure that when new forms are introduced all internal partners are advised. I appreciate the feedback! If I have misunderstood the concern, please do not hesitate to reach back out.
